Teams tasked with facilitating public participation on the Draft National Police Service Commission (Recruitment and Appointment) Regulations, 2025, underwent training today in preparation for the exercise scheduled for Monday, 11th August 2025.
The Legal Directorate took the teams through the modalities of effectively incorporating public views, the protocols for moderating stakeholder forums and the key focus areas of the draft regulations. The objective is to ensure that facilitators are well-equipped to guide participants through a comprehensive understanding of the proposed legal framework, thereby enabling the public to provide meaningful and constructive feedback.
Section 28 of the National Police Service Commission Act empowers the Commission to formulate regulations aimed at enhancing the effective discharge of its constitutional mandate. The proposed regulations aim at improving the recruitment process, by providing standardized framework for the recruitment of members of the Service (police constables, cadets, specialists and other civilian staff) and promoting transparency and merit-based selection.
The Commission invites all stakeholders and members of the public to submit their views on the Draft Regulations.
